Hi Willy (should I call you that?), thanks for your advice. It all sounds very sensible and a useful angle for me to consider. As a family we have always been very open with each other as brothers and with dad - mum to a lesser extent about our bodies - and we know they will always have a sensible answer or discussion on any subject we raise.
None of us are particularly shy about being in bathrooms or showers at home or when showering or in changing rooms at school, so we have all seen each other and our dad in our birthday suits and never thought much about it. I donā€™t wander around the changing room like some guys do in open and full view of everyone else while laughing and joking with friends, making no attempt to get dressed and leave, but neither do I hide away in a corner with a towel wrapped around me all the time. Maybe the culture is different here. School team sports, I guess, originally took off at the well known Public Schools (Eton, Rugby & Harrow etc.) as they had the money for facilities and were usually boys only boarding schools and I imagine that back then no-one thought much about privacy. All-male groups of friends would bathe in ponds, lakes and rivers in the nude and it wasnā€™t until Victorian times that people became more prudish in general. At school we were never actually encouraged to go around nude but were also told there was nothing wrong with it ā€“ the ā€œyouā€™re all the same boy, donā€™t be shy!ā€ school of thought. Having brothers at home helped make that idea more normal too.

I got more self-conscious as I got to 14/15 years old and realised that I was growing rather more than my friends in all areas, most obviously in height, as I am a good 2 or 3 inches taller than any of my classmates and friends, but also in this area as well. I am a fan of sportswear and would happily wear shorts or trackies all day every day if I could, which are mostly by their nature rather more baggy than jeans and so on and so I get away easily on that front. I ā€˜disguiseā€™ my self in school uniform by wearing tighter boxer-briefs and tucking things away more than most guys might do, which seems to work OK 99% of the time. I have been lucky in that I am not one of those guys who suffer sudden unexpected erections at any time of day and in situations where I might be the centre of attention, like doing a reading at assembly or writing something up on the white-board in front of the class.

I swim for the school and wear jammers for that (we are given the choice of jammers or briefs) but have never felt awkward among the other swimmers as everyone is on show to a greater extent there than they would be normally, and there is always at least one guy who attracts attention by getting out of the water with a sudden boner clearly visible in his briefs, and no really takes any notice.

When not swimming competitively or in my clothes, and need to wear ā€˜properā€™ swimwear, I wear looser-fitting un-lined board-shorts with a pair of Speedos underneath, which seems to work fine. But as you read above I sometimes get caught out when wearing sports wear that tends to be a thinner, more clingy fabric.

Going to an all-boys school I donā€™t have much experience of girls other than as acquaintances (sisters or relatives of my friends mostly) so am still undecided about which sex I prefer. Iā€™m guessing here, but I imagine gay men prefer men who are more than averagely well endowed more than heterosexual women do when it comes to sex, if you see what I mean.

Thanks for the advice and for commenting, stay wet and safe.
